David Freemantle in China
David was born in Southampton, UK during the second world war. He still remembers the bomb damage.
When he was 18 his father told him "Your mum and I have supported you for 18 years, you are now on your own. Support yourself!" So he did.
He went to London, got a government grant and studied for a degree in chemistry at City University then a doctorate (Ph.D) at London University. He then opted out of academic life and joined the American company MARS LTD where he fulfilled an ambition he had had since the days of rationing during the war: not only to make chocolate bars but to eat them. (He still eats chocolate and that is why he is fat!) Following the period as production managers at MARS LTD he had a meteoric career rise working for companies such as International Computers and Perkins Engines before being appointed to the board of British Caledonian Airways. After four years with British Caledonian he got fired and ended up on the street with no money. His first marriage had also just broken up and he was in debt. Rather than cry he decided to rebuild his life.
He set up his own business Superboss Ltd and wrote his first book Superboss which became an international best-seller.
For 25 years he strutted the stages of this world presenting seminars on leadership, world-class customer service and motivation. His clients have included (amongst many hundreds) Singapore Airlines, Shangri-La Hotels and Citibank. He has also written 16 books.
He now lives in Makati City, Philippines - and loves it there!
